Sandra Nurmsalu

Urban Symphony's singer is Sandra Nurmsalu. She's 21 years old and she has two passions - singing and violin playing.

Urban Symphony has given her the chance to combine these two. Ten years of violin studies in classic music have also taken her to the roots of Estonian folk music - for 7 years she played and sang in folk group 'Pillipiigad', giving concerts and performing at festivals all over Estonia and Europe. For three years, Sandra has also been part of folk music band Virre.

She became known through the biennal youth soloist competition 'kaks takti ette' held by the Eesti Televisioon and broadcast nationalwide where she finished in 4th place. Since taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest, she had gained a considerable fan base in Europe.

Sandra Nurmsalu has grown up in Harju Country, not far from Tallinn, in the small borough of Alavere. She made her first musical steps in the music school of the village of Kose. She is currently a resident of the village. Her favorite colour is light-blue (sky-blue) and her favorite flower is the red rose.
